Johto has someone of my favourite Pokemon. Unfortunately, by laws of the random generator, I can’t talk about all of my favourites. However, I did get lucky and manage to get a couple, so it’s not all bad!
Without further ado, let’s review these eight Pokemon!

Murkrow is a crow with a little witch hat and broomstick! It’s so cute! I really like Murkrow. It’s design is so simple yet there’s so many little hidden traits that make it so you keep wanting to look at it to find each little nuance. Being the first Dark/Flying type Pokemon (Johto added the Dark and Steel types, so it wasn’t like it was a race), they did a great first impression! I just wish it’s evolution kept with the witch theme instead of becoming a mob boss (Honchkrow).
Score: 7/10

Ledian is one of my all-time favourite Bug type Pokemon. It looks like a Power Ranger/superhero/alien and it just works really well! I love how everything is so round and soft, while also giving it a fighting appearance. The way the arms look like gloves are nice, and the antennae are probably my favourite part of the whole design.
Score: 8.5/10

Wooper is an axolotl, one of the most unique looking amphibians ever. It’s just a tiny little version of an axolotl! I love how circular it is, and how it always looks so shocked. There’s not much else to say about it. It’s a solid Pokemon, but not one I can talk about a whole lot. It just kind of exists and it’s a good thing it exists!
Score: 6/10

Shuckle has the highest Defense stat of any Pokemon. It’s a tanky boy! Many competitive Pokemon players can use Shuckle in pretty crazy ways. There are moves that swap the Defense stat with the Attack stat, giving Shuckle the highest attack of any Pokemon. Then you can use a Trick Room, which lets slower Pokemon move first. Boom. Best Pokemon in the game if you can manage that. Its design is pretty bland, though. It’s just noodles sticking out of a mushroom-looking shell.
Score: 5/10

Slugma sounds like such a no-brainer idea. Slimes are sometimes found in lava or fire variants in other RPGs. Slugs are just real life slimes. It’s a perfect match! I love the little droopy bits on its mouth, and the flame eye decorations. I also really like how its pupils are just dots. It gives a doofy expression that I really like.
Score: 6/10

The generator was really liking Bug types this time around. But this one’s a little special. It’s a really strong Bug type! I really like Scizor. Its crimson red steel coat with the black accents make me think of a sports car. The head is really unique and interesting as a silhouette. The way the pincers have dots to resemble eyes makes it look even more intimidating, paralleling real life as some animals have patterns to make them look scarier to predators. It’s just a really cool Pokemon!
Score: 8/10

Dunsparce is one of the doofiest Pokemon out there, and it’s supposed to be that way! It’s got little useless wings, a big drill tail it with no purpose, and a strange colour scheme that really just makes it look so odd. But that’s what I like about it! It’s storing its energy and it’s destined for greatness some day.
Score: 6/10

Celebi is one of, if not my favourite Mythical Pokemon. It’s the time travelling protector of the forest, and it really works well. I like the pale green it has, alone with the more lime green and the blue. The black rings around the eyes are the best part of the design, and honestly I don’t know why. It just looks really good! It’s head looks kind of like an onion, despite it’s name sounding like celery. But I think it’s harder to make celery look cute.
